According to experts, the rainforest of Suriname is one of the most pristine and breathtaking areas of the entire Amazon region. Home to countless bird species, both large and small mammals, and an incredibly rich variety of plants, this tropical landscape is a true natural treasure.

While spotting large animals during a walk is rare even locals don’t see them often you’ll have the chance to enjoy the smaller wonders of the forest: colorful birds, iguanas, and a wide range of rare medicinal plants and herbs. Your guide will share stories and knowledge along the way, bringing the jungle to life.

Popkilon
This one-hour walk takes you along lush jungle paths lined with towering rainforest trees and ancient ferns. As you stroll through this peaceful green corridor, your guide will introduce you to the diverse flora and fauna that thrive in this unique environment.

Pikin Koiri
Our shortest walk takes you from Debike, home to one of the area’s medical posts, to the village of Botopasi. Along the way, you’ll discover majestic trees, exotic plants, and the vibrant birdlife that make this walk a peaceful and rewarding experience.

Botopasi – Pikin Slee
This 2-hour hike leads you through beautiful forest scenery and across refreshing creeks. Learn about the towering trees and traditional plants, including the well-known “loud tree” (lawaai boom). At the end of the trail, you’ll reach the village of Pikin Slee, where you’ll have the opportunity to purchase beautiful, handcrafted Saramaccan woodcarvings.
