Moenja Wojo Creek Tour

Embark on a serene adventure as you depart from Danpaati and journey along the Suriname River toward the entrance of the mystical Moenja Wojo Creek approximately one hour by boat.

As you glide across the water, take in the peaceful scenery, surrounded by lush jungle and the songs of tropical birds. Your guide will share fascinating insights into the area’s flora and fauna, pointing out special sightings along the way, such as kingfishers, toucans, and monkeys swinging through the treetops.

Entering Moenja Wojo Creek. The Hidden World of the Jungle

After a short ride, you’ll reach the narrow entrance of the Moenja Wojo Creek this is where the real adventure begins. The traditional korjaal (dugout canoe) gently floats through calm, shallow waters, taking you deeper into the heart of the jungle.

A haven for nature lovers, this creek is surrounded by towering trees and hanging vines that form a green canopy above. The jungle’s quiet is only broken by the sounds of birds, crickets, and the occasional splash of a fish.

The tour lasts approximately 2 to 3 hours, depending on how long guests wish to explore.

Along the way, your guide will share stories and knowledge about:

• The plants and trees lining the creek, many of which have medicinal properties
• Wildlife in the area, including snakes, sloths, and river otters
• The spiritual importance of Moenja Wojo to the Maroon communities
